Day 1: Casablanca, Morocco
Arrive in Casablanca.
Day 2: Casablanca / Fès
Take a city tour of Casablanca including Hassan II Mosque. Depart for Fès, stopping at Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities. Visit the ancient Roman city of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Day 3: Fès
Tour the fabled medieval city of Fès, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the country’s cultural and spiritual capital. Explore the old Jewish quarter, and learn about the Moorish heritage of Fès’ Sephardic families.
Day 4: Fès / Merzouga
Drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains to the small, desert town of Merzouga. Enjoy a sunset camel trek through the Sahara Desert. Sleep in a luxurious tented camp.
Day 5: Merzouga / Aït Benhaddou
Travel to the UNESCO-restored kasbah Aït Benhaddou, virtually unchanged since the Middle Ages. Walk to the old village and meet Berber families living there.
Day 6: Aït Benhaddou / Marrakech
Visit Kasbah Telouet, a former palace of the Berber chieftain. Continue to Marrakech.
Day 7: Marrakech
Take a privately guided tour of Marrakech, the “Pearl of the South,” founded on the crossroads of ancient caravan routes.
Day 8: Marrakech / Essaouira
Drive to Essaouira, a charming old fortified fishing port on the Atlantic coast. Enjoy a walking tour including town fortifications, carpentry workshops, art galleries, and the harbor. Spend the afternoon at leisure on the beach.
Day 9: Essaouira / Casablanca / Depart for Home
Return to Casablanca and depart for home.
