Day 1: Reykjavik, Iceland
Arrive in Reykjavik and drive to Hvalfjörður. Visit the Settlement Center, Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls, and the Deildartunguhver geothermal hot spring. Stop at the home of 13th century famed Icelandic writer Snorri Sturluson.
Day 2: Hvalfjörður / Snaefellsnes Peninsula
Explore the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and learn about shark hunting. Cruise on Breiðafjörður Bay with views of Snæfellsjökull glacier, looking for bird life including puffins. Walk along the black sand beach and explore the wreckage of a fishing vessel. Cross lava fields to a tiny fishing village.
Day 3: Snaefellsnes Peninsula / Akureyri
Travel north to Akureyri. Look for seals on a boat excursion or explore Kolugljúfur Canyon visit. Visit the Víðimýrar Church.
Day 4: Akureyri
Spend the morning whale watching at Húsavík. Visit the Mývatn Lake area known for its volcanic and geothermal features.
Day 5: Akureyri / Egilsstaðir
Continue east along the scenic Möðrudalsörævi. Visit a traditional Icelandic farm.
Day 6: Egilsstaðir
Visit the eastern fjords. Tour the Stone Collection Exhibition. Stop at the Hallormsstaðaskógur Forest.
Day 7: Egilsstaðir / Kirkjubæjarklaustur
Take a boat tour of Jökulsárlón, which means “glacial river lagoon.” Visit Skaftafell National Park.
Day 8: Kirkjubæjarklaustur
Set out on a full-day excursion to the interior of Iceland including Laki Crater.
Day 9: Kirkjubæjarklaustur / Hella
Travel south, visiting the Skógar Folk Museum, Þorvaldseyri Farm, and Seljalandsfoss waterfall.
Day 10: Hella
Journey to the southern interior region of Iceland to explore the “Golden Circle.” Stop at Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit Geysir, the famous hot spring after which all other hot springs are named. Marvel at Gullfoss, also known as “The Golden Waterfall.”
Day 11: Hella / Blue Lagoon / Depart for Home
Visit the Blue Lagoon, a relaxing geothermal spa, before departing for home.
