Day 1: Reykjavik, Iceland
Arrive in Reykjavik and drive to Hvalfjörður. Visit the Settlement Center, Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls, and the Deildartunguhver geothermal hot spring. Stop at the home of 13th century famed Icelandic writer Snorri Sturluson.
Day 2: Hvalfjörður / Snaefellsnes Peninsula
Explore the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and learn about shark hunting. Cruise on Breiðafjörður Bay with views of Snæfellsjökull glacier, looking for bird life including puffins. Walk along the black sand beach and explore the wreckage of a fishing vessel. Cross lava fields to a tiny fishing village.
Day 3: Snaefellsnes Peninsula / Golden Circle / South Iceland
Explore the “Golden Circle.” Stop at Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, visit Geysir, the famous hot spring after which all other hot springs around the world are named, and stop at Gullfoss, a waterfall known as “The Golden Waterfall.”
Day 4: South Iceland
Explore South Iceland including the Skógafoss waterfall, the Skógar Museum, and Sólheimajökull glacier. Visit the black sandy beaches of Reynisfjara and the spot birds at the “Blow Hole.”
Day 5: South Iceland / Reykjavík
Visit a geothermal power plant and learn about geothermal energy. Take a guided tour of historic Reykjavík, Iceland’s capital city.
Day 6: Reykjavík / Reykjanes Peninsula
Explore the volcanic Reykjanes Peninsula’s lava fields, rock formations, and boiling mud pots. Dip in the Blue Lagoon.
Day 7: Reykjavík / Depart for Home
Bid farewell to Iceland and depart for home.
