Day 1: Istanbul, Turkey
Arrive in Istanbul, the only city in the world to bridge two continents.
Day 2: Istanbul
Set out on a city tour of Istanbul, including the Hagia Sophia, the ancient Underground Cistern, and the “Blue Mosque.” Embark on an evening Bosporus cruise.
Day 3: Istanbul
Explore the local spice market and the Grand Bazaar. Visit Rüstem Pasha Mosque. Explore Topkapi Palace, residence of the Ottoman sultans for four centuries.
Day 4: Istanbul / Gallipoli / Troy / Canakkale
Visit the battlefields of the 1915 Battle of Gallipoli. Explore Troy, UNESCO World Heritage site, considered the focus of the Trojan War.
Day 5: Canakkale / Pergamon / Sirince
Take a gondola ride to Pergamon, and explore the Acropolis of Pergamon, dedicated to Zeus. Visit the ancient Library of Pergamum, the Hellenistic Theater, and the Temple of Trojan. Transfer to Sirince, a lovely hillside village.
Day 6: Ephesus / Sirince
Enjoy a privately guided tour of Ephesus, one of the world’s best preserved cities of the Greco-Roman era. Visit the house where the Virgin Mary is believed to have lived during her final years.
Day 7: Priene / Miletos / Didyma / Sirince
Explore the ancient Greek cities of Ionia (Priene) and Miletos, as well as Didyma, an ancient Ionian shrine containing a temple and an oracle of Apollo.
Day 8: Sirince / Izmir / Kayseri / Cappadocia
Fly to Kayseri and transfer to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Cappadocia, a surreal volcanic moonscape whittled into unique formations by wind and rain over millions of years. Tour the Göreme Open Air Museum and enjoy a performance by whirling dervishes.
Day 9: Cappadocia
Hike through Cappadocia’s Red Valley, discovering hidden cave churches with beautiful frescoes. Visit the underground city of Kaymakli.
Day 10: Cappadocia / Kayseri / Istanbul
Visit a local rug weaving cooperative. Drive through Pasabag, formerly Monks’ Valley, to see some of the region’s diverse fairy chimneys up-close. Fly to Istanbul.
Day 11: Istanbul / Depart for Home
Bid farewell to Turkey and depart for home.
